Turn an iPhone into a Dumb Phone

Hi, everyone!  It's Lara Hammock from the Marble Jar channel. And today I'm going to show you how to turn an iPhone into a dumb phone.
I'm assuming that most of you watching this are interested in this for your kid's phone and not your own. But perhaps that's a bad assumption.  A friend of mine came up with this solution when her daughter was making bad choices with her phone. She searched high and low for an actual old school phone and was shocked to find that cellphone providers didn't have this as an option. So rather than go through the hassle of buying a used phone on eBay and convincing her cell provider to activate it, she decided to work with the equipment she already had available.
Okay -- doing this demo is a bit risky for me. But I've backed up all of my data, so here goes.
Step 1 - Delete all of the apps possible
You guys already know how to do this. You are going to delete all of the apps you can with the press and wiggle methodology. First press for a second or two, then start deleting.
Step 2 - Turn off apps in Restrictions Area
Okay -- now you are down to these minimal apps.  But the phone isn't quite dumb enough. You can still perform some basic Internet functions. So go into the Restrictions area by going to Settings ~~ General ~~ Restrictions. Enable restrictions by putting in a passcode if you haven't already done this. Now under the Allow area, turn everything off.
Step 3 - Turn off Ability to Install New Apps
You'll notice that the App Store is still installed, so this is all for naught unless you restrict the ability to install new apps. Go back into Restrictions and choose to restrict Installing Apps, Deleting Apps and In-App Purchases.  While you are at it, you can turn on the rest of the restrictions, but it's not really necessary, since you've deleted all of the apps!
Okay -- now let's check out the phone. You can call, you can text, you have access to the clock, but not much else.  You might as well call your service provider and take this phone off of a data plan as well since you shouldn't have to pay for something you aren't using!
Let me know if this worked for you. Please leave thoughts, questions and experiences in the comments section below.   And thanks for watching!
